Suspected ritualists yesterday killed a primary school teacher in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State, cutting off his left hand and both legs.

The victim allegedly left his home at 5:30am to harvest some crops in his farm before going to his place of work.

But when his colleagues did not see him in school at 10:30am, a search party was conducted, during which his lifeless body was found in a bush path, with his left hand and legs cut-off while other parts of his body were marked with injuries.

LEADERSHIP WEEKEND’s checks revealed that there have been reported cases of ritual activities in the last six months in the community, where no fewer than eight persons were allegedly killed, with vital parts of their bodies removed.

Unconfirmed sources said the suspected ritual killers pretended to be scavengers before attacking their unsuspecting victims.

Some elders of the community, who craved anonymity, told our correspondent that they had petitioned the state commissioner of police over the matter.

When contacted, the Delta State police public relations officer, ASP Famous Ajieh, confirmed the gruesome murder of the primary school teacher, adding that police detectives had been assigned to uncover those behind the act.

Meanwhile, a middle-aged man identified as Chukwudi, has been arrested by the police in Egbudu, Aniocha South local government area of the state, for allegedly killing his wife with a machete.

ASP Ajieh said the suspect had a quarrel with his 26-year-old wife, identified as Ndidi the previous day before they went to bed, next which he killed her the following morning.
