Two Arraigned For Stealing Winning Lottery Ticket

Two men, Adio Iseoluwa and Dare Fawunmi, have been arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a N130,000 winning lottery ticket.

They were said to have also stolen additional N100,000.

The incident happened at the head office of popular Lagos lottery, Premier Lotto Nigeria Ltd, aka Baba Ijebu.

The duo allegedly sneaked into the office around 7.30am on 21 September, 2013 to perpetrate the theft before they were caught by security officials.

They were arraigned on two counts of stealing.

The charge read in part, “That you Adio Iseoluwa, Dare Fawunmi, on September 21, 2013 at about 7.30am, at Premier Lotto Nigeria Limited, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal Premier Lotto Nigeria Limited winning tickets valued one hundred and thirty thousand naira (N130,000) and one hundred thousand naira cash (N100,000), all valued two hundred and thirty thousand naira (N230,000) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2011.”

They pleaded not guilty.

The magistrate, Mr. O.O Olatunji, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till October 16.
