Today’s MCM we are taking it to the streets, it is Alaga Ibile himself. Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, popularly called Reminisce is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and song writer from Ogun State. He chose the name Reminisce because the first 4 letters is a short form of his first name “Remilekun”, and the word reminisce in English language means “Indulging in enjoyable recollection of past events”; his dream has always been to make music that people will reminisce about in the future.
He has had a flair for music since childhood, Reminisce grew up listening to different genres of local and foreign music which helped him become versatile in his career. Back in secondary school, he was performing at various school activities; little did he know he was on a path to great things. He has always wanted to be a rapper and his favourite rappers growing up were Nas, Jay Z and Snoop Dogg. He developed his rap skills by listening to and mimicking the rap legends.
In 2006 Reminisce recorded his first ever studio song, he later went on to record a full hard core rap album that was never released because he took a break from music to complete his tertiary education at the Kwara State Polytechnic, where he majored in purchasing and supply.
In 2008 the music industry witnessed the comeback of Reminisce when he featured on a track titled “Bachelor’s Life” off 9ice’s sophomore album “Gongo Aso”, where he did a rap verse, and from that year, he has never looked back on his music career.
From almost nothing he has turned himself into a force to reckon with in the industry, both the streets and the cooperate world has accepted his genre of music. For this and many more reasons we are proud to crush on him.
