The Lekki-VI road locked down due to the excessive traffic gridlock following the Lekki-Ikoyi toll gate fare increment by Lekki Concession Company Limited, LCC, which started yesterday, Feb 1st.
The toll review elicited angry reactions from Lagosians, who ply the route. Refusal by most motorists to pay the fares resulted in long queues leading to traffic gridlock along the axis. Other motorists, who were impatient, were seen taking alternative routes.
However, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, deployed to the area had a tough time controlling vehicles as a result of standstill traffic at the toll gates.
