Nicki Minaj has responded to Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse, discussed the lack of Young Money features on Drake’s “Nothing Was The Same”, her work with Eminem and more.
During a backstage interview with The Breakfast Club (Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy) at Power 105.1’s Powerhouse event yesterday, Nicki Minaj finally weighed in on Kendrick Lamar’s infamous “Control” verse, and she didn’t hold back.
“I’m probably in the top five of the niggas he did mention, so go and do your motherfuckin’ research,” she said. “But, I also feel like he may be one of those respectful gentlemen that probably felt like, ‘I don’t want to say a female’s name.’ Or maybe he just don’t think the kid is ill. But the kid knows the kid is ill, so I don’t need to be on nobody’s dick.”
As for K.Dot’s “King Of New York” claim, Minaj had this to say:
“I’m the Queen of New York; I’m the King of New York. Let me tell you why. Platinum albums,” she said. “‘Albums. Plural. Number one in five motherfuckin’ countries, nigga. Don’t play with me. You better respect my motherfuckin’ gangsta, bitch. When you got an album that goes number one in Japan, the UK, Australia, America and Canada at the same motherfuckin’ time, then you can speak my motherfuckin’ name.”
Although these quotes may come off as aggressive, she tweeted about the interview afterward and claimed her responses were harmless:
Lol. I’m going to post the full interview. It was all in fun. For the record, Hov is the king of NY in my eyes. ????????????????????????????????????????

Minaj also phoned in to DJ Whoo Kid’s Whoolywood Shuffle program this weekend, discussing the absence of Young Money features on Drake’s “Nothing Was The Same”, as well as his lines about her on ‘Tuscan Leather’ – “Not even talkin’ to Nicki, communication is breakin’ / I dropped the ball on some personal shit I need to embrace it.”
