Grandmother Kills Daughter-In-Law With A Hammer So Her Son Can Marry Wealthier Woman

A woman was arrested for killing her daughter-in-law with a hammer, police in Australia said. Huajiao Zhuang, 50, had a strained relationship with her daughter-in-law, Dan “Selina” Lin, 21, who is the mother of a 2-year-old boy. Zhuang is accused of murdering Lin because she wanted her to son marry a wealthier woman, a court has heard.

The jury heard that Zhuang had previously assaulted the mother of her grandson. In one incident, Zhuang slapped her. In another incident, she cut her hair. She also asked Lin’s 2-year-old “how would you like to change your mother?” Prosecutor Peter Kidd told the Victorian Supreme Court, that before the murder, Zhuang told Lin that she owed ??her son, Peter Zhuang, hundreds of thousands of dollars, which he could have made if he married a Chinese woman because he had an Australian visa.

On the day of the murder, the mother-in-law allegedly got into a dispute with Lin over the amount of bathwater she was using for her son. Zhuang hit her daughter-in-law over the head with a hammer at least 33 times in the bathroom before placing her body in a bag and into a garbage can. She then cleaned the blood from the house. At 2:00 a.m., Zhuang wheeled the garbage can to the Darebin Creek, and dumped the body, the court heard. Lin’s body had many injuries including defensive type wounds such as bruises on her arms and a broken finger.

Zhuang was examined the next day after being interviewed by police. She was unhurt, police said. Zhuang claimed that Lin brought the hammer into the fight, and she grabbed it and hit Lin to defend herself and her grandson. Zhuang is facing charges of murder.
