A middle aged man identified as Festus Aimufua has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command for murdering his Austria-based lover, Rose Aifuwa in the early hours of Christmas day Dec. 25th.

According to National Mirror, Rose had come to Nigeria early this month to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities with her family, when she got back in touch with Festus, who she used to date before relocating to Austria.

The lady was murdered and her corpse dumped on the road along Upper Mission Street extension around Oando Filling Station in Benin City on Christmas day.

According to family sources, Mr Festus, a spare parts dealer, is believed to have murdered his lover over an unpaid debt running into millions of Naira which he owed her. The deceased is said to have shipped some vehicle spare parts into the country for him to sell and give her the money but he did not.

The police is currently investigating the matter while the search of an accomplice of Mr Festus believed to have witnessed the murder is on. The matter has since been transferred to the State Crime Investigation Department (SCID).
