Today’s WCW is a very personal one, today I shadow one of my own; a wonderful writer. People always say I am a feminist, and I always reply Google Chimamanda she is the definition of feminism and is really proud of it. A Nigerian novelist and short story writer, Adichie studied medicine and pharmacy at the University of Nigeria for over a year, her father was a professor of statistics at the university, and her mother was the university’s first female registrar. I will say quite the educationist family.
At age 19 she left Nigeria for the United States to study communications and political science at Drexel University in Philadelphia; she transferred to Eastern Connecticut State University where she received a bachelor’s degree with distinction. She completed a master’s degree in creative writing at Johns Hopkins University in 2003, and in 2008 she received a Master of Arts degree in African studies from Yale University.
She has written; a lot poems (1997- Decisions), a short play (1998- For Love of Biafra), short stories (You in America), books (Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, The Thing Around Your Neck, Americanah) and many other pieces.
It is with a great pleasure I bring you the real Muse; Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie our WCW of the week.
