Read Interview below.
Fresh from the release of your highly anticipated album, you have been on different tours lately. Were you expecting this level of acceptance when you started?
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting the level of acceptance received when we started. I have met with a lot of people who have given their views on the album and we thank God for what we have been able to achieve.
On the album itself, were you skeptical about its acceptance?
I was not it any way. My is doing great. I have an album launch that had the best artists around and we have not been looking back since. We have a lot of things to do. Currently, I’m doing a tour after the launch in Lagos. We have been to Owerri, Nairobi and Kaduna and the acceptance from fans have been massive and I just have to continue giving them my best all times.
Few days before the release of your MOTY album, you were involved in a war of words with your former label mate and friend Wizkid. What actually led to the brawl?
I knew this would come. The thing is, we were both having a bad day and stuffs like that. I wouldn’t want to comment on that matter again because we have both moved on. It’s all good at the end of the day that we handled it like matured minds.
You still haven’t said anything on what prompted the Twitter fight?
Nothing, like I said we were all having a bad day and not like we were beefing before, it just happened and we’ve sorted it out.
Were you of the opinion that you were in something together and you wanted to outshine one another?
There’s nothing of such. I don’t see him as a threat because I have been doing my thing regardless of anyone. I don’t see myself as a threat to anybody because I feel like there is a lot of space, for everybody to do their thing and make a way.
Now signed onto Baseline Music that also houses Saeon. Is there any difference in handling of affairs compared to. EME?
Baseline has been good and we don’t need to start what’s not. Record labels have been the same everywhere and so there is no difference. It is just that right now, I understand the game better than when I first came into the industry. There is nothing more.
Rumours still persist that you didn’t feature any act from EME including Wizkid because of how you were treated while on EME…
Cuts in. I don’t understand why people draw conclusions from things when there is actually nothing wrong. What I want to know is, is there a rule that says you have to feature this person or that person in your album. As a matter of fact, on my next album I may not even feature anybody on it. I am just saying. Well, I tried to reach out to them though, but they were all busy. They all had different busy schedules. When I am around, they are not around, when they are around I am not around and stuffs and like. My album had a deadline scheduled for it to drop, so we had to release it. We are one great family and would continue to be. I was at the launch of DJ Xclusive’s album and no one talked about why I was there to perform. We are cool bro.
You talked about recording a new album. Are there plans to drop another one soonest?
For now, we have my new album out and that doesn’t stop us from working. I record new materials everytime and we would push them out according to plans. My fans should expect new stuffs every time and I plan to release some videos soon too.
