Awareness Walk Sets The Stage For Encouraging Reading Culture

13.Ignite IV-All contThe second in the series of the Ignite Africa Readers R Leaders Destiny walk is set to hold on Saturday 19th September, 2015 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. The walk focuses on creating awareness about the importance and positive attributes of a healthy reading culture among youths in Nigeria.

Stemming from the dismal failure rates recorded in national examinations in recent years, Ignite Africa, a non-governmental organization founded by Kolawole Oyeyemi conceived the idea to check the negative trend and build a positive and vibrant future for youths, by exposing them to the importance of reading.

The walk will feature celebrities, who apart from attracting the expected participation, would also express their views about the importance of reading. Celebrities expected at the 2015 edition include, veteran actress Joke Silva, Actor Joseph Benjamin, Ace broadcaster Larry Izamoje, Music sensations, Praiz, Sound Sultan, Chidinma, Sir Shina Peters and Buchi, veteran comedian Ali Baba, Seyi Law and Tee A, among many others.

This year’s Walk will see the formal introduction of the most resourceful Library website for young people; that the organization just developed to strengthen her resolve to change mindsets. According to Kola Oyeyemi, the Convener, only Readers emerge as great Leaders in this knowledge age, hence this awareness and solution drive.

There would also be presentations of an iPad Mini to the lucky winner of a raffle draw, an iPhone 6 will be presented to the winner of the BookSelfie competition; comedy skits, musical entertainment and refreshments will form part of the attractions for a fun filled event. Organizers will also give out Free T-shirts and face caps to early registrants.
