Aramide
Aramide stunned fans and music enthusiasts in 2015, as her song ‘Iwo Nikan’ got nominated for some of the most prestigious awards including AFRIMMA and NEA to mention a few. Her vocal prowess earned her an award for Best Female Vocal Performance at the 2015 edition of The Headies. We called dibs on Aramide’s blow up in 2016, after we saw her perform at her underground live showcase, which we hear she will be doing more of this year.
Ketchup
The ‘Show Me Yuh Rozay’ crooner, Ketchup popped back on our radars in 2015, with a new brand direction, unpredictable stage acts and more dancehall-hit records. The success with his single ‘Pam Pam’, currently one of the biggest songs in East Africa and his follow up single ‘Baby Paulina’ featuring Uhuru earns him a spot on our Ghoste Next 5 list
Koker
Mr Do Something, the Chocolate City newbie had an interesting year in 2015. His debut single under the CC umbrella, ‘Do Something’ became a big wedding favorite. Koker started a new trend with his signature urban danshiki look and his stagecraft definitely earned him dibs to be listed as one of the Ghoste Next 5 acts
Niniola
Singer, songwriter and performer, Niniola gave us such a thrill every time we saw her on stage in 2015, and this is why she is one of the Ghoste Next 5. Her singles ‘Ibadi’ and ‘Loke’ were radio hits and such party starters. We expect big collaborations and more singles from Niniola this year
??Pepenazi
Since his first single, ‘Born You’, Pepenazi has not shown any signs of slowing down. In 2015, he collaborated and performed alongside top acts such as Skales, Reminisce, Harrysongz, and his collaboration with Olamide ‘Illegal’ was such a big hit. For a new act, Pepenazi has shown great discipline and commitment to hone his skills, being visible and putting out good music consistently; this is why he’s one of our Next 5
