My Absolute Belief In The Power Of God Influenced The Title Of My Album ~ Patoranking

PatorankingDance-hall sensation, Patoranking who recently released his debut album, GOD OVER EVERYTHING, on the 5th of  August 2016, hosted members of the press to a media parley. The session which held at Four Points By Sheraton was organised by Spice Digital Nigeria to enable the singer have an intimate chat with journalists. He answered questions about his album; inspiration and challenges encountered.

On the reason behind the choice of the name of the album, GOD OVER EVERYTHING, the versatile singer disclosed that his strong belief in the power of God largely influenced the choice of the title. He shared  ” I want people to know that amidst having fun, love and the rest, God still comes first, hence the choice of the name, GOD OVER EVERYTHING . The album is about love, God , my life ,where I come from and where I am headed”.

The singer also shed light on the  inspiration behind his music. He revealed that he leans on experiences he has garnered over the years. He encapsulates the entirety of his being into his music. He further added that he makes music that everybody can relate to and this also influences his choice of collaborations.

The Foston Musik Star, further brought to light the key individuals behind the success of his music and the release of his album. He shared that his team worked tirelessly on the album, chose the songs on the track list while he was away on business. When asked the reason for the delay in the release of the album and the challenges encountered , he stated that he wanted to take his time to acquaint himself with his audience and faced challenges from putting sounds together to points of losing creativity to write or record. Ultimately, he admitted it was a tough but an indeed fulfilling journey.

Finally, he spent time signing physical copies of the album which is yet to be released into the market and taking pictures with members of the press.



Patoranking, is an award winning Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer, songwriter and performing artiste who  has gained popularity and risen to prominence in the Nigerian music industry with his unique blend of dancehall and reggae music, and select African percussion lines. His popular releases currently include ALUBARIKA , GIRLIE O , HAPPY DAY, and DANIELLA WHINE.

Patrick Nnaemeka aka Patoranking, is the oldest of five children. He was raised in a small slum in Lagos Nigeria known as Ilaje. His family lived in extreme poverty as his parents struggled to put food on the table. By the age of thirteen, Patoranking began hawking  various goods to passengers on traffic. He wanted desperately to move his family out of the ghetto, in hopes of providing a better environment for his siblings to grow up in and a more comfortable life for his parents.

He began his career with working behind the scenes with a number of veteran African artistes. Through that process, he learnt the value of hard work and creating music that is unique, memorable and relatable.

In 2013, he collaborated with one of Africa’s top dancehall acts, Timaya, to record and release the chart topping single ALUBARIKA. The song was a massive success. In February, 2014, he officially got signed to Foston Musik. Under the label, he released five singles :GIRLIE O , GIRLIE O REMIX ( featuring Tiwa Savage), HAPPY DAY, DANIELLA WHINE , and MY WOMAN, MY EVERYTHING which he featured Wande Coal.

In a breakout streak marked with performances in Mauritius, New York , Tanzania and London, Patoranking won Nigeria’s most prestigious music award, THE NEXT RATED AWARD, at the 2014 HEADIES AWARDS, and THE BEST NEW ACT OF THE YEAR at the CITY PEOPLE ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS. In March 2015, Patoranking was selected as MTV BASE ARTIST OF THE MONTH . At the 2015 MTV AFRICA MUSIC AWARDS, Patoranking took home the coveted BEST NEW ACT AWARD.  He released his debut album ,GOD OVER EVERYTHING in 2016.
