Rumour has been making rounds that Snapchat will be closing down by the end of the year, after a fake news story went viral on social media.
The story alleges that the messaging service will be removed from all app stores by November 14.
However, given that the article was so widely shared on social media, Snapchat has issued a statement to clarify the matter.
In an update on its @SnapchatSupport Twitter account in the early hours of this morning, the company wrote: “We’re not shutting down. #fakenews.”
