A Roman Catholic priest in Milwaukee has declared himself as gay, saying he could no longer live in the shadows of secrecy and wants to stand out as a gay man.
He disclosed his sexual orientation at the St. Bernadette Parish during a church service after which he received a standing ovation from his parishioners.
“I am Greg. I am a Roman Catholic priest,” he reportedly told the congregation. “And, yes, I am gay!”
According to what the priest said that was published in the National Catholic Reporter, it stated that, “since it’s very rare for priests to come out as gay, he wants to be a role model for others”.
He said he’s helping to break the silence of gay men in the clergy so he could reclaim his own voice.
