Nigerian Police says making phone calls at petrol stations a criminal offense

The Nigeria Police Force has said it a criminal offense to make phone calls at filling stations and anyone violating the rules could be arrested.

According to Punch, Nigerian Police Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, described petrol stations as public spaces where, because of the inflammable petroleum products found therein, motorists ought to be careful.

Smoking and making phone calls at petrol stations are criminal offenses, he concluded. He said:

“Making phone calls or smoking at filling stations is a criminal offence and the police, of course, could arrest anyone violating the safety rules put in place to safeguard life and property at the filling stations”.
