Four Nigerians arrested for scam in Thailand

Four Nigerian men have been arrested in Thailand for running online romance scams on Thai women.

Pol Lt-General Sutthipong Wongpin, Immigration Police Bureau commissioner, while confirming the arrest said that the boys were arrested after police received complaints from several Thai women who reported that foreigners they knew had been unlawfully detained at airports on their way to visit them.

Upon investigating the reports, it was discovered that there were no such foreigners and instead the men who they found were deceiving the women.
Further investigation discovered the location of the alleged fraudsters and led to their arrest.

According to Sutthipong, some of the men tried fleeing by using ropes to lower themselves from the balcony of an apartment building.

Five computers and many mobile phones, were seized during the raid.
The four accused Nigerians were identified as Ikemefuna Oliver Ibekwe (26), Ogochukwu Iduh (28), Osaratin Irabor (36), and Vitus Nwokemodo (31).
