Kodak got some charges dropped, defense say weed and guns were props

A Broward County Judge threw out three felony offenses against Miami rapper Kodak Black today because hiss lawyer asserted that the guns and weed that he was arrested for were not real.

Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, theft of a firearm and child neglect after his Broward County, Florida home was raided. Kodak’s lawyer Bradford Cohen had the above charges dropped because he argued that the guns and marijuana in the Instagram post a week earlier that led to the subsequent raid of his home weren’t real.

Cohen managed to convince the judge that rap artists “often produce music videos and other promotional videos, as is customary in the industry, using fake firearms and narcotics.”

Cohen couldn’t get Black off of the probation violation and weed possession charges, but the most serious charges are behind him, which Kodak can count as a victory.
