An aspiring doctor from Wales who boasted about a hookup he’d had with a woman hanged himself after his friends published his comments online, according to reports.
Edward Senior, who went by the nickname Ted, feared he’d be kicked out of Swansea Medical School over the embarrassing prank, the Telegraph reported.
The 22-year-old had told his rugby friends about his fling on a private messaging board before the comments were made public — and seen by the woman and other Swansea students.
Senior returned home to Raglan, Monmouthshire, after the embarrassing incident and committed suicide in a wooded area.
The school refused to say whether it had suspended Senior in the days leading up to his death.
“We were very saddened to hear of the death of Edward Senior, a student at our Medical School,” a school spokeswoman said. “Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends at this time.”
Max Senior paid tribute to his brother.
“Ted was a friend to everyone and always did his utmost to help people in need. The life and soul of every situation, Ted was someone who embodied all the right values on how to live, and will undoubtedly leave a lifelong legacy in everyone’s hearts,” he said.
The family has set up a foundation in Senior’s name to help young people who are suicidal.
