Manchester United spoils Manchester City’s party as they came from behind to steal a well deserved win in the Manchester derby

Manchester United produced a remarkable comeback to ensure Manchester City’s march to the title would have to wait at least another week.

City romped into a two-goal lead thanks to Vincent Kompanys thumping header and Ilkay Gundogan’s neat finish to put them on course to seal the title against their rivals.

But an astonishing turnaround in the second half saw United comeback from two goals down to lead 3-2.

A brace from Paul Pogba pulled them level before Chris Smalling volleyed home from Alexis Sanchez’ free kick to put them in front.

City had strong appeals for a penalty turned down when Ashley Young scythed down Sergio Aguero in the box.

United withheld a late onslaught with David De Gea producing a great save late on to deny Aguero, before pushing a Raheem Sterling effort onto the post to ensure City’s quest for the title is not over yet.
