Avengers: Infinity War Projected To Bring In $500 Million in Opening Weekend

Avengers: Infinity War could bring in over $500 million in international box office sales during its opening weekend.

Deadline reports the Marvel film is currently estimated to bring in $472-$498 million, and that’s without China and Russia’s since it’ll be released in those countries later on.

As for the United States, Infinity War is estimated to rake in $216-$235 million. The all-time record belongs to Star Wars: The Last Jedi at $220 million.

It’s not much of a surprise though since Marvel’s promotional budget for the film is its biggest ever at a reportedly $150 million. Over a dozen actors are slated to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, and it’s making a huge splash in advance ticket sales. Fandango announced Infinity War not only beat Black Panther in advance ticket sales, it’s also outpacing the last seven Marvel films combined. This includes Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Doctor Strange, Captain America: Civil War, and Ant-Man.

As of today, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grossed $14.8 billion (including non-Disney movies) over the past decade via its 18 films in the last 10 years. However, Infinity War will have to do more damage than Thanos to beat Black Panther’s record-setting feat. So far, the Chadwick Boseman–led film grossed over $1 billion dollars worldwide since its release in February. But if any of the early reactions of Infinity War are true, it’ll be worth it.
Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters on April 27.
