Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta broke down in tears as he announced he will leave the club at the end of the season.
The midfielder was supported by his Nou Camp teammates at a press conference on Friday afternoon.
Iniesta who has has clocked up 669 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish club said: “This is my last season here. I know what it means to demand what it means to play here year after year. I know what it means to be captain of this club. So, being honest with me and the club, I understand that my stage is over.”
Iniesta has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League when his time at Barcelona ends and ruled out a move to another European club.
On his future, he added: “we’ll know that when the season ends. There are still things to work out, different things. I said I would never play against Barca so it’s not going to be in Europe. We will know at the end of the season.”
Iniesta has been at Barvelona for 22 years, he has won eight La Liga titles with the club and four Champions Leagues.
