American singer Janelle Monae who has been pestered with assumptions that she is gay or bisexual has finally opened up about her sexuality.
The 32-year-old singer who has never addressed her sexuality until now, sat down with RollingStone where she revealed that she identifies as pansexual.
“Being a queer black woman in America—someone who has been in relationships with both men and women—I consider myself to be a free-a** motherf*cker,” she said. Monae used to identify as bisexual, but later “read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.”
* Pansexuality is the sexual, romantic or emotional attraction towards people regardless of their sex or gender identity. Pansexual people may refer to themselves as gender-blind, asserting that gender and sex are not determining factors in their romantic or sexual attraction to others. This type of sexuality could also be called omnisexuality.
