Kensington Palace has revealed that Meghan Markle would be walked to the altar on her wedding day by her future father-in-law, Prince Charles.
Kensington Palace announced Friday that Meghan, 36, has asked Charles, 69, to carry out the duty since her father Thomas Markle Sr., will not be able to attend.
“Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day,” the palace statement said. “The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”

Though, it is customary for the bride’s father to walk his daughter down the aisle, it was thought that Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland would walk her down the aisle in place of her father who just had an open heart surgery. This development however, came as shock to royal fans.
