A female TV presenter has been suspended from her job in Kuwait after calling a male colleague handsome live on air.
As she was handing over to the colleague, she joked that a male colleague should stop adjusting his headwear, as he was ‘already handsome’. This did not go down well with her bosses at the station which is run by the Ministry of Information.
The unnamed host was suspended, pending an investigation into the incident.
The issue has divided Twitter users with some supporting the government’s tough stance while others are outraged it is getting so worked up over over a harmless comment.
“Leave housing problems, leave problems of corruption, leave health problems, leave problems of education…and cut the livelihood of an announcer who said to her colleague ‘you are handsome’!,” one Twitter user wrote.
