After 13 years of marriage and one year of hell, Mary J. Blige is officially back on the market.
The Grammy Award-winning singer filed for divorce from her husband, Kendu Isaacs, in July 2016, but it became apparent the two would never be able to reconcile after news surfaced about Isaacs indulging in an affair. The other woman was MJB’s 28-year-old protégé, an up-and-coming singer named Starshell.
In 2001, the New York-bred soul singer declared there would be no more drama in her life, but drama is all she endured from the summer of 2016 until now.
The former couple reached a divorce agreement in March of this year, but it was only (June 22) that a judge signed off on the paperwork and severed any remaining ties between the estranged lovers. No specifics about the agreement have been released as the two are hoping to keep details as quiet and private as possible.
Isaacs was previously asked the court to order MJB to pay $130,000 per month in spousal support, but his request for a six-figure monthly support payment was ultimately denied in June of last year. Instead, a judge ordered Mary to pay $30,000 per month until a divorce agreement was finalized.
The current details of spousal support, or the lack thereof, are currently being kept under wraps.
