Britain’s Got Talent finalist Simonne Kerr has been found stabbed to death in her home in Battersea, south-west London.
She was a nurse working for Guy’s Hospital, near London Bridge, and had appeared on the talent show with the B Positive Choir to encourage blood donations.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Simonne was pronounced dead shortly after they arrived at 12.40pm.
A 40-year-old man who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.
A neigbour who lives nearby, described the killing as ‘absolutely shocking’ and said she saw the arrest.
Police reassured residents, telling them: ‘It’s not gang-related.’ Scotland Yard said detectives are not looking for any other suspects.
