Rapper Schoolboy Q Keeps Album Release On Hold To Mourn Mac Miller

Naturally, with Mac Miller ‘s untimely passing, some have been hit harder than others with one of those individuals being ScHoolboy Q.

Schoolboy

The Los Angeles-bred emcee often spoke of Mac as a brother and while the Top Dawg Entertainment rapper hasn’t said much since the 26-year old’s death by an apparent overdose, TDE ‘s Punch recently stepped onto Twitter to inform the general public that Q was holding up.

While he may be keeping it together, ScHoolboy broke his silence at a recent show informing the crowd that his forthcoming album would be put on hold at the moment in light of his friend’s passing.

He began by reminding fans of his policy on dropping a new album every two years, even revealing that he’s completed four albums in the last two years since the arrival of Blank Face.

“With my nigga gone right now, I just don’t feel right putting out an album,” he said. “As y’all can tell, I’m not my real self right now. I shouldn’t even be here right now. But like I said, my nigga Mac would not want me to be in the house sad.

He would clown me for some weird shit. I’m here today ’cause it’s no way he would allow me to sit in the house and be a little bitch. I’m not gon’ be a little bitch.”

Nonetheless, he assured fans that the album would be coming, just not as soon as they were hoping. “I’ma go back, and I’ma figure out when I’ma put this fucking album out, because y’all are going to get this album.

I promise that. I’m just not ready to walk into the radio station and the first thing they ask me is ‘So Mac Miller…’ I’m not ready to deal with those questions. I’m not ready to put nothing out right now. I’m sorry.”

He made a strong effort at maintaining his composure, affirming that he would not cry onstage, before revving the crowd up for a rendition of “Studio.”
