Angry Woman Sets Ex-boyfriend’s Apartment Complex Ablaze

A woman has been arrested and charged with arson, after allegedly igniting a large fire in a Maryland apartment building because she was mad at her ex-boyfriend, ABC News reports.

The woman in question, 32-year-old Natasha Ciara Joyner, reportedly started the fire in the three-story apartment complex around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, per Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department. It took firefighters two hours to get a handle on the three-alarm blaze.

The department’s Twitter account shared a few videos, including one where the flames are can be seen on the apartment building’s roof, plumes of massive black and gray smoke ballooning into the sky.

No residents or firefighters were injured while the department managed to control the fire, PG County Fire said. Still, 132 of the complex’s residents have been displaced after the fire caused $2.2 million in damages. The National Capital Region of the American Red Cross administered water, bedding, and toiletries to residents who needed them.

Joyner has since been arrested and charged with arson, malicious burning, malicious destruction of property, and reckless endangerment for allegedly starting the fire. Additional charges are to be determined.
