The Nigerian government has intervened in the arrest of singers Omah Lay and Tems in Uganda.
The singers were arrested by the Ugandan police and have been remanded in a prison for flouting COVID-19 guidelines in the country.
The pair were arrested on Sunday, December 13, together with their managers for holding an illegal concert at Ddungu resort in Munyonyo where they gathered big crowds despite President Yoweri Museveni’s directives on the prevention of the spread of Covid-19.
Reacting to the news of their arrest, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission said the Nigerian mission in Uganda is doing everything in its power to get the fast-rising singers out.
