Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved for private and public schools in the state to resume from Monday, January 18, 2021.
According to the Head, Public Affairs of the ministry, Kayode Abayomi who signed the statement, the decision was made after reaching a consensus with relevant stakeholders.
He quoted the Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo as saying that “the resumption is in line with the Federal Government’s resolution after reaching a consensus with relevant stakeholders.”
The commissioner urged students and members of staff to “stay safe and adhere strictly to COVID-19 guidelines”, adding that “schools must provide soap, wash hand basin, alcoholic hand sanitisers, thermometers, and other essential items in public and private schools across the State”.
Adefisayo emphasised the importance of adhering strictly to COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of face mask, regular handwashing, use of sanitiser and maintaining social distancing.
